It’s confirmed now. Shahid Kapoor will romance no one else but the Aashiqui 2 girl Shraddha Kapoor in Vishal Bhardwaj’s next film, based on Shakespeare’s famous tragedy, Hamlet. 

The movie is titled Haider, and will be set in the beautiful locales of Kashmir. Earlier, the director was confused as to whom to cast opposite Shahid Kapoor in the film. There were even rumours that Shahid wanted Anushka Sharma in the film. 

However, the director finalized Shraddha Kapoor. It’s heard that Shraddha was his first choice to apparently play the role of Ophelia in the film. 

Besides, Shraddha and Shahid, Vishal has also roped in his favourite Tabu, who was seen in the role of Lady Macbeth in Vishal's Maqbool. What role Tabu is going to essay in Haider is anybody’s guess. With Haider, Vishal will complete his trilogy that started with Maqbool in 2003, followed by Omkara (2006). 

The film tells the story of a son of a former king who takes revenge from his uncle for snatching away the throne and murdering his father. The movie will go on the floors by the year end. Shahid Kapoor will essay the lead role of Hamlet. 

Shahid has worked with Vishal in Kaminey, and even won accolades for his performance. Let’s see how Shahid excels as Haider.
